Procedural Chicken #2: Running

I changed some parameters and the chicken is now running. There hasn’t been much logic added to it. The hips and wings / tail are moving now. The hips rotate and move left and right. It looks a lot better, but there are still a lot of things to do:

  • Support multiple speeds
  • Rotate feet correctly on ground (on uneven terrain but also so they don’t rotate with the character)
  • Make it so the feet can be placed more towards the center and the foot in that is moving mid-air swoosh around the grounded foot

Those are just the most basic tasks. Additionally, I’ll have to:

  • Have the head rotate towards a target so it can look at stuff (even though it has no eyes)
  • Have procedural idle animations
  • Have procedural animations for jumping and other movement animations
  • Have all of this hooked up to some sort of AI Behaviour

It’s going to be a long journey full of nightmares.
